The Makeup Show Chicago 2012

I wish I could relive Monday all over again... Well minus the traffic and the crazy city hooplah (is that even a word? ha). Oh and I can't forget the reckless drivers and when I got lost! Despite the rough start, I was lucky enough to attend The Makeup Show Chicago this year as a model for one of Orlando Santiago's airbrushing classes. During the class, he mentioned that he actually got the chance to do some airbrushing on Lady Gaga. It was truly an honor to be his live model! He demonstrated an editorial makeup look on me and unfortunately I removed the makeup before I could take a picture because I thought that I would have to prep for another class, but a photographer will be releasing a picture soon. Let me tell you, it was absolutely breathtaking!

After the class was done, I was able to roam around the show and visit different counters. I avoided MAC and Make Up For Ever though because they were so busy and it was just too hectic for me. I kind of regret it though because Make Up For Ever had a huge discount going on and I didn't have a chance to take advantage of it because I was so overwhelmed.

Instead I went over to Inglot, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, Kevyn Aucoin, and Bdellium to buy the things that were on my list. I am in love with my picks from these companies! I walked away with 23 eyeshadows including their palette from Inglot for an amazing price. Their eyeshadows are extremely pigmented with a smooth and buttery texture. I stocked up on matte neutral shades because I felt like I have way too many shimmery eyeshadows. I picked up 2 lip tars from OCC in the shades Belladonna (bright violet) and Anime (neon pink). Lip tars are super pigmented liquid lipsticks. A little definitely goes a long way! I also purchased Kevyn Aucoin's Celestial Powder and Sculpting Powder in Medium. After trying to contour with different bronzers, I saw a huge difference when I used the Kevyn Aucoin powders. I am so glad that I purchased it and I wish that I bought a few more actually. I am also in love with my new 10 piece brush set from Bdellium. I can't wait to use it on future clients!

I also listened to part of a seminar about the makeup industry, but sadly I was so exhausted that I didn't get to take down any notes and only remember a few things from it. I got to see James Vincent, Crystal Wright, and Michael Devillis speak, but I missed out on Billy B's keynote seminar. :( Overall, it was an amazing experience and after listening to all of the speakers, I felt so empowered and inspired. I want to go to the Orlando show in November and actually attend classes next time though! However next time I refuse to drive 6 hours straight without any sleep :P

A Beautiful Beginning

After so many years of reading blogs, I've finally decided to start my own blog. I have to be honest though, it took me a while to do so because I've always questioned myself on how I would make my blog different from the other thousands of blogs out there in this world. How would my blog compare to FrmHeadtoToe? MayteDoll? Or even Temptalia? These are just a few blogs that I love and worship every day. I love the insight that I get when I read them. I can't go a day without reading the latest post about the newest beauty products, makeup looks, trends, and outfits for this season. Plus, not only do I love reading, but I truly enjoy writing as well. I wanted to compile all of this into my very own blog and I hope that people will feel the same way after reading mine. So without further ado... WELCOME TO MY WORLD OF BEAUTY
